My art students learned about the return of the 17 year cicada insects. They were amazed that billions will rise from the ground to climb trees this summer. Once their wings grow out they'll fly around and make loud sounds near 90 decibels! When students realized they are harmless to humans, I think they enjoyed this art lesson.
