Assemblages Like Louise Nevelson's

For Women's History Month my art students learned about the artist Louise Nevelson and her assemblages. They learned that she collected items that others had thrown away as unwanted or broken objects. Then she would assemble these into an interesting sculpture which was then painted in a monochromatic color scheme. Some were quite large while some fit on a table. My students collected objects that they found around their home which were broken, not being used or were no longer wanted. They assembled their objects into an interesting composition and then painted their sculpture in one color. I think they did great! #womenshistorymonth
