Spartan helmets
My sixth grade students created Spartan helmets using paper mache. We first discussed the differences between the city of Athens and Sparta. Students also took an online quiz from the Walters Art Museum to determine which Greek mythological figure matched their personality. I have included images showing how we used balloons to help form the top of the helmets. Empty cereal boxes were also used. I purchased dowel rods and then sawed wood to help display their helmets. Our display case is where student pottery and large sculptures are exhibited.
