I remember hearing some students say that they didn't have
many art supplies at home. I wanted to create this video to demonstrate how a
painting can be created by using cold coffee. This was my first try but I have
heard of it being done. No brushes? Try using a Q-tip or cotton ball. I tried tea first because I do not drink coffee. The
tea did not provide enough values for me so I tried using some coffee that we
had in the kitchen. I learned a lot from this process and that is important.
For example, I'll include more coffee grounds for darker values next time. So,
if you try this at home with cold coffee let me know how it turned out! You can
post your art on Artsonia or in our Google classroom. Take care, stay home, and
stay safe. -Mr. B

Our Virtual Art Classroom
Welcome back to Art. I always say that at the beginning of each class. Today I thought I'd give everyone a tour of my home art studio. I brought back some props I had taken to school so that this virtual class might look somewhat familiar. While teaching art online, my goal is to keep to our routine as much as possible. Students were given a choice of art projects to complete first so we'll begin additional art lessons this week. Google Classroom is our method of communication. Stay safe, stay smart, and keep making art.-Mr. Bottoms

Teaching Art from my Studio
Hello everyone. I'll be teaching art from my home art studio and with Google Classroom. I'll also be posting videos of art demonstrations and instructions. The plan is to teach as close to our normal routine as possible. We'll start with our warm-up and then create some awesome art! You can work on the art assignments that were given out or another one from that choice board. Let me know on classroom if you have any questions. But first, I'm cleaning and dusting the studio. Here's a
video of our cat trying to understand what this bell is all about! Until next
time stay safe, stay smart, and keep making art!

Pottery Kiln 3 2020
I made this video to show what their glazed pottery looked like before being fired in our kiln. Students did a great job glazing their bowls and remembering to not glazing the bottom. Students learned about the vitrification that occurs at 2,000 degrees. Leonardo da Vinci said "Study the science of art, and the art of science".
